Head Coach of Senior Men’s International Squad

As the Irish Football Association’s designated Futsal delivery partner, the Northern Ireland Futsal Federation is delighted to announce an exciting opportunity to apply for the position of Head Coach of the Senior Men’s International Squad.

The postholder will be responsible for the delivery of coaching sessions and overseeing matches of the Senior Men’s International Futsal squad within the next two qualifying campaigns.

The role will also require the postholder to carry out training camps in order to select squads for friendly matches and qualifying campaigns.

The role with be subject to review after the period of the first campaign.

Historic first European points for Northern Irish futsal

Historic first European points for Northern Irish futsal: Sparta Belfast make their mark

The Northern Ireland Futsal Federation (NIFF) congratulates Sparta Belfast Futsal Club on securing the first ever points by a Northern Irish side in European futsal, following a 5–1 victory over Scottish champions PYF Saltires at the UEFA Futsal Champions League Preliminary Round in Linz, Austria.

Sparta opened their campaign on 27 August against experienced Azerbaijani champions Araz Naxçıvan, gaining valuable exposure against one of the competition’s perennial contenders. On 28 August, Sparta delivered a spirited performance against Austrian champions FC Ljuti Krajisnici, narrowly losing 3–2 in a high-intensity encounter.

The historic moment arrived on 30 August, as Sparta produced a comprehensive 5–1 win over PYF Saltires.

Newly appointed Sparta Head Coach Pedro Gomes said:

> “To take points on the European stage is a huge step forward for futsal in Northern Ireland. I could not be prouder of the way the players represented both the club and the country — they showed real quality, resilience and togetherness, and this gives us a strong platform to build on.”

NIFF Chair, Jonathan Michael:

> “This result is a milestone for our game. It reflects the growing standards in the domestic league and will inspire players and coaches across Northern Ireland. Our congratulations go to Sparta’s players and staff, and our thanks to UEFA and the hosts in Linz for a well run event.”

This achievement contributes positively to Northern Ireland’s club standing in European futsal and showcases the progress being made across the pathway, from grassroots to elite. With the new domestic season beginning and youth programmes ramping up across the country, NIFF encourages young players, coaches and volunteers to get involved with their local futsal clubs.
